Q:

can i take kids with me 3y and infant? add fees?

ANETA A.  asked on  Mar 16, 2012

A:

Yes! We welcome children of any age on this tour. We don't charge extra for kids under the age of 5. We do ask parents to buy our $5 children's tickets for those aged 6-12. Anyone age 13 and older counts as an adult.

Q:

When the fine print says "Limit 1 per visit.", what exactly does this mean. If I buy 3 tickets, can I only use one at a time/per walking tour visit?

Susan  asked on  Mar 16, 2012

A:

Oh, Groupon! Their choice of wording on this one makes no sense at all. I guess it means you can only use one Groupon per person per visit? We are happy to have a tour full of nothing but Groupon-ers (is that the right term?)! So get your deal on and we'll see you all here. Together. At the same time. :)

Q:

Can a leashed dog join the walking tour? Cute & well behaved :)

Holly A.  asked on  Mar 15, 2012

A:

Good question! While we have no formal policy barring you from bringing your well-behaved and leashed dog with you on this tour, you would likely need to stay outside with him/her during the three interior visits, as we do not have permission from those organizations to bring animals into their buildings. This would include the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Wanamaker's Department Store (now Macy's), and the Comcast Building's lobby. If you don't mind missing out on those interior stops, I invite you to be the first to attempt this experiment. I would just ask that if your dog becomes a nuisance to the point that our volunteer guide asks you to lead your furry friend away from the tour, you follow their request then call our bookstore to reschedule for a date when you can take the tour alone or with a not-as-furry friend.

Q:

Does this mean you can not apply this deal to tickets dated after march 20,2012. Would like to do this in warm weather.

Carla B.  asked on  Mar 15, 2012

A:

Not quite. Per "The Fine Print," this Groupon is valid for any "Modern Metropolis" tour the Center for Architecture offers between now and March 20, 2013. That gives you more than a year to use your Groupon! We hope to see you here.

Q:

Is the Groupon also good for the walking tours hosted by the Preservation Alliance, in conjunction with the Center for Architecture? The link to tour schedules goes to the Center's page for the Emergence of a Modern Metropolis tour, and that page also includes a link to and blurb about the Preservation Alliance tours (which are mentioned in the Groupon description), but it is not clear whether this Groupon is also honored for the Preservation Alliance tours.

Joe  asked on  Mar 15, 2012

A:

Good question! This Groupon deal is ONLY for the "Emergence of a Modern Metropolis: Philadelphia" walking tour offered by the Philadelphia Center for Architecture.

Q:

Are these tours weather contingent or are they conducted"rain or shine" ? Is there parking at the Architecture Institute for tour participants?

Catherine B.  asked on  Mar 14, 2012

A:

Yes! Our tours are conducted "rain or shine," though severe weather such as a hurricane or blizzard would stop a tour from proceeding. While the Center has no parking of its own, there are a dozen garages within a few blocks of the Center. Visit www.PhilaPark.org for an interactive map and listing of nearby garages and lots. Also, please be sure to reserve your tickets in advance by calling the AIA Bookstore: (215) 569.3188
