When life sends you a robot monkey, mastering the jungle gym won't be enough to protect your bananas from its futuristic grasp. Hide your delicious fruits atop the airy peaks of climbing walls with today's Groupon to Philadelphia Rock Gyms. For $25, you get a half-day of outdoor climbing (a $50 value) on the vertically metamorphic masses at Ralph Stover State Park. Each session takes place from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday. Upcoming scheduled dates are June 12, July 10, August 14, and September 11, and more classes will be added if needed. All the necessary equipment is included.
Veteran climbers say rock climbing is like running a marathon, but you get the adrenaline rush in shorter bursts. Removed from the controlled setting of an indoor gym, the experience requires quick thinking to thrive while avoiding cliff-side menaces such as angry goats and talking boulders. Under the careful eye of an experienced guide, an indoor skill set becomes an outdoor mindset during the roofless ascent of nature's walls. Learn both the basics and nuances of outdoor climbing as your peripheral swells with serene views and majestic sights.
The adrenaline rush of rock climbing is beyond compare. As you climb the rock, the rock will also climb you. As rock climbing enters your life, you may discover that you have trouble carrying out everyday tasks accurately, because you're constantly tempted to rope up and summit the nearest tall building, lamppost, or tall person who's moving slowly enough to lasso.
Reservations are required. Your Groupon is not valid for Chickies Rock. Climbers must be over 16 years of age.
Though today's Groupon is valid for the outdoor climb only and those 16 years and older, Nickelodeon Parents Connect users named Philadelphia Rock Gyms as the Best Indoor Playspace and Partyspace for Teens in 2008.
