What You'll Get
When the prestigious orchestras of the world go on tour, it's always a treat for Southern California music lovers. And the arrival of the New York Philharmonic at Renee and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall is an occasion to cherish. The New York Phil is one of the "Big Five" U.S. symphony orchestras, with a tradition of excellence going back almost 175 years. For this rare Orange County appearance, presented by the Philharmonic Society, the orchestra will play pieces by Brahms and Schumann, including Brahms' lyrical Symphony No. 2. They will be joined by cellist Carter Brey and conducted by Alan Gilbert.
