The best photographers rise to the top by practicing, but second-best photographers rise to the top by shooting blackmail photos of the first-best. Snap like a champ with today's Groupon deal for a photography class from Photo Workshops Studios. Choose between the following options:

  • For $29, you get a two-hour South Beach Night Walk class (a $75 value). This class is for intermediate-to-advanced students, and the walk begins near the corner of Ocean Drive and 14th Avenue in South Beach.
  • For $59, you get a three-hour Break Out of Auto Mode workshop (a $150 value). This class is for beginners, and the class takes place at the Photo Workshops Studios headquarters in Coral Gables.

Helmed by high-flying shutterbug Marilyn Scavo and award-winning wedding photographer Carlos Osorio, Photo Workshops Studios shows novice and ace photographers how to make their pictures pop. The South Beach Night Walk class shares night-photography tips with up to 15 pupils, then releases them into a playground of glowing city lights. Participants can ask questions along the way, learning how to snap long exposures or simulate a thunderstorm with a flash, a garden hose, and a kettledrum. Students should bring along a digital SLR camera—or another camera that can fully manipulate aperture and shutter speed—as well as a tripod, monopod, or teleportation pod.

The Break Out of Auto Mode class helps beginners decode the settings of a digital SLR camera, including ISO, shutter speed, and vaporize. Up to 20 students harness the power of hands-on education, learning how to navigate the camera's manual mode and capture stunning images. In addition to imparting photo-snapping fundamentals, the teachers host a question-and-answer session where students can ask them what it's like to shoot models, weddings, and human cannonballs. The three-hour workshop includes snacks, drinks, and a packet of workshop materials participants can take home.

Photo Workshops Studios

At a professional studio flooded with natural light, professional photographers Marilyn Scavo and Carlos Osorio teach budding shutterbugs how to advance their picture-snapping skills during private lessons and beginner workshops. From composing compelling daytime shots to clearly capturing your boss screaming into a pillow, Photo Workshops Studios' instructors use their backgrounds in wedding, boudoir, and family photography to assist students in achieving portfolio-ready images.
