What You'll Get
Crafting your way into someone's cupboard is the craftiest way into his or her heart. Create a heartfelt cupboarding pass with today's Groupon: for $12, you get $25 worth of paint-your-own pottery at Pic-N-Paint Pottery in Pasadena. This Groupon cannot be used for parties or camps.
Pic-N-Paint Pottery invites aspiring and amateur artists to decorate provided pottery using a variety of vibrant paints and tools in a fun, creative atmosphere. Single out a makeover victim from Pic-N-Paint's vast selection of ceramic pieces before choosing an already-made design or delicately drawing a detailed Vermeer replica. Pottery prices range $8–$80 and studio fees (covering paint, brushes, glaze, and fire) are always half the price of the pottery. After slathering the sculpture in one of more than 60 underglazes, continue pointing your pigment-laden brush in any way your heart, mind, or hand's own mind fancies. If you find yourself artistically exhausted, ask one of the helpful staff members for ideas before handing your creation off for firing. After seven days, nascent pieces emerge from kiln-fueled cocoons, transformed into an adult work of art and ready to come home, feed the kids, and attend PTA meetings.
Pic-N-Paint's cheerful studio is a great place to get friends together for a small ceramics gathering, ceramics rave, or first ceramics date rave. If you don't know how to paint or only know how to paint the Venus of Urbino on a divan made of butter, the friendly staff can help you draw a stegosaurus. Kids love learning crafts, so make it a family affair.
