Clothes may make a man, but they can transform a woman; at least they do in the noirish modern fairy tale, The Outfit. Comically tragic Nora lives in a world of shadows, with a lecherous landlord, the world’s worst boss, and a pack of co-workers straight out of Mean Girls. But then she meets Marco, a butcher’s son and budding fashion designer who changes her life with an outfit. Her newfound confidence, however, leads to fresh conflict as Nora learns about fame, love, and what it means to be true to herself. Narrated by Marco’s three crazy Italian aunts, with shadow puppetry and magical realism, The Outfit will touch your heart and make you smile. Tony Lawry directs a script by local playwright and Northwestern professor Laura Schellhardt at Piccolo Theatre.
