Creativity can strike at any moment, whether you're near a canvas and brushes or beside a slumbering strongman and many rolls of toilet paper. Learn to recognize opportune moments with today's Groupon: for $10, you get $20 worth of self-painted ceramics from Piece of Mine in Grand Ledge.

Piece of Mine catalyzes customers' inner creative spirit with fully usable paint-it-yourself ceramics concocted in a relaxing atmosphere. Upon entering the studio, potential pot painters pick the non-metallic object of their choice ($4–$75), such as a coffee mug ($8.50) or piggy bank ($12), and settle at a station. Painters can then decorate with a bevy of artistic tools, including sponges, stamps, ideas from design books, borrowed sets of car keys, and sage advice from the friendly staff. Some paints, glazes, and pieces will have an additional cost, which will be marked. All masterworks will be fully usable and safe from the ceramic-consuming clutches of dishwashers and microwaves. Finished works of art will be left in the staff's capable hands for glazing and firing, and will be available for pick up in seven days.

Like museums and mood-lit laundromats, Piece of Mine is an ideal spot for an outside-the-box date; families too can enjoy each other's company in a stimulating environment, celebrating the creation of the dishes that they will passively aggressively clear for years to come.

The studio fee at Piece of Mine starts at $7 per painter, and includes the brushes, paints, tools, glazing, and firing for one piece. Today’s Groupon is valid toward the regular studio fee, paint, and pottery piece (bisque) only. While today’s Groupon isn’t valid with other offers, Piece of Mine takes half off studio fees for kids on Mondays. Hours vary according to whether school is in session and day of the week.

About Piece of Mine

A passionate staff of potters and painters oversees brushstrokes at Piece of Mine, which boasts hundreds of paintable items, ranging from mugs to vases to piggy banks, for beginner and veteran maestros. Unlike the antiquated pottery studios of yesteryear, Piece of Mine has done away with the cumbersome slips, molds, and cleaning greenware that bog down the process, affording artists total focus on their work. Sponges and stamps supplement brushes, and nearby design books are full of great art ideas, such as painting a personal Mount Rushmore with your own face four times.
