What You'll Get
Fighting has been called both an art and a science, kindling the heated debate of whether training pugilists should punch easels or physicists. Choose a side with today's Groupon: for $49, you get one introduction class and four boxing-fitness boot camps at Old Skool Fight Sports & Fitness Academy (a $100 value) in Grandview Heights.
Old Skool Fight Sports & Fitness Academy builds brawn and tones tensors with a number of boxing and MMA–style techniques and workout programs. An introduction boxing-fitness boot camp gradually introduces the strength-building and agility-heightening movements that will come to full, sweaty blossom in the subsequent four sessions. Without so much as a light butterfly flutter to the jaw, punchy patrons learn the arts of shadow boxing, fancy footwork, and how to perspire while gift-wrapping boxes. The noncontact classes on Old Skool's varied schedule place emphasis on losing weight and building fitness rather than actual fighting, relying on classic training techniques such as punch-mitt work, jumping rope, and stinging bees to melt pounds.

About Old Skool Fight Sports and Fitness
At Old Skool Fight Sports and Fitness, head coach Rob Pilger has won three Golden Gloves championships in boxing and fought professionally. Nowadays, though, he and his team helm workouts for all levels. Boot camps are taught by National Physique Competitor Erin Brown, who uses her boxing skills and passion for weightlifting to focus on skills more than fighting in the ring, with exercises like jump roping, burpees, and footwork drills. Trainers also lead more advanced training sessions for competitive boxers, along with youth boxing workouts and mixed-martial-arts sessions.
