What started as a Northern Italian pizza restaurant with an eye for simplicity is now a company whose pizzerias can be found on several continents. But what makes Piola pizza stand out in a world where pizza is practically everyone's favorite food? Established in Treviso, Italy in 1986, its authentic Northern Italian thin-crust pizzas are laden with fresh dough, sauces, and veggies and fired in a scaldingly hot brick oven. The North Hills location alone has a menu that brims with more than 40 combinations, none of which rely on ingredient overload to taste vibrant.
Specialties include the aptly-named Italia with ricotta cheese, as well as more modern pizzas such as the Carne and Compagnia with ham, sausage, spicy salami, and oven-roasted pulled chicken. Thicker, Neapolitan-style pizza has a place too, with creations like the Pompei and its spicy salami kick. The pizzas are the main event here, but there's more to the space too: the eatery is also known for its artistic bent, featuring film screenings, book events, and art exhibitions that showcase more than just Picasso's famed cubist pizza phase.
