A Chat with Pioneer Valley Artspace
What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
We are a non-profit art space in a private home. Lessons are in a small-group setting, keeping them very intimate and comfortable. We will be creating custom mosaic pieces from pottery, old or new dishes, stoneware, tile, and glass. Can be mixed with the hand built pottery also. All ages welcome.
Do you provide any materials? What should your students expect to bring?
PVArtspace will supply basic tools, a hammer, and the mortar and grout for the mosaics. Students will supply dishes, tiles, glass or pottery to break for the design they choose to make. Bring your design idea or make it up as you go. It can be easy or difficult.
What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
I have always loved playing with clay and painting ceramics. When I had an opportunity to take over my downstairs apartment and create an art space, I jumped at it. Mosaics goes hand-in-hand with pottery and ceramics. If you break it, we make it into an new design. Google helps find designs easily.
What do you love most about your job?
I actually do the art projects along with the students. Reservations are accepted for groups of six or more to meet casually for girls’ night out, fundraiser projects, birthday parties (both adult and children’s) showers, team outings, office parties, or just about any occasion.
