Though it is illegal for pranksters to shout about non-existent fires in a theater, shrieking after an encounter with an underseat gum wad is permissible. Shout about what's on stage instead with today's deal: for $25, you get two tickets to the Pittsburgh Musical Theater's presentation of the student edition of The Phantom of the Opera at the Byham Theater (a $51.75 value). Tickets are for best-available seating. Choose one of the following three performances:
- Thursday, October 21, at 7:30 p.m.
- Friday, October 22, at 7:30 p.m.
- Saturday, October 23, at 7:30 p.m.
The longest-running show in the history of Broadway, The Phantom of the Opera weaves a story of unrequited love and violent vengeance set in a 19th-century Parisian opera house. The title character, hideously deformed after falling asleep in a tanning booth, coaches a young soprano to operatic stardom while simultaneously terrorizing her theatrical cohorts, a reign of terror that climaxes when The Phantom’s romantic obsession with his star pupil comes to a head. Drawing upon the acting talents of students from the Richard E. Rauh Conservatory and Robert Morris University, as well as the instrumentation of the CAPA Symphony, Pittsburgh Musical Theater’s rendition of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Tony-winning blockbuster will soothe its savage audience with music such as “Think of Me,” “Point of No Return,” and “The Music of the Night.”
Each of Phantom’s skillfully wrought notes and slyly plotted dramatic turns will take place within the historic confines of the Byham Theater, a century-old entertainment jewel whose original mosaic flooring and meticulously restored Cherub Lobby take visitors back to a sepia-toned time of glamour and sorcery. Today’s deal allows dramaholics to purchase multiple sets of tickets to treat the whole Scattergories team to a night or two on the town.
Valid for adult tickets only. Must use all tickets in a set on the same night, but may purchase multiple sets.
