Back when the snickerdoodle and the Thin Mint were nothing more than dance crazes, sock-hopping teens secretly wished for tiny candied Frisbees to complement their moves. Wishes do come true with today's Groupon: for $12, you get $25 worth of cookies, brownies, and more at Platine Cookies.
Named one of the 20 Best Bakeries by Los Angeles magazine, Platine is a sweet-tooth’s favorite and a devout dentist’s Kryptonite that has been featured on Food Network and in the LA Times for its all-natural and handmade treats. Platine's snickerdoodles, chocolate galore, and signature oatmeal-raisin cookies are carefully crafted by renowned chef Jamie Cantor. Cantor spent years working at the famous French Laundry (twice named best restaurant in the world by Restaurant magazine) before opening Platine.
Cookies are Jamie's favorite food to make and America's favorite food to make into rafts. Mixed in small batches and baked to order, Platine’s artisan cookies come in more than 10 different varieties (chocolate gingersnap, cranberry chocolate chip), plus custom-crafted Couture Cookies ($2.50–$4.50 each) that can be specially shaped and iced for any occasion. (Couture Cookies gift assortments cost $45–$60). The warm and sweet-smelling bakery also sells an array of specially baked delicious desserts such as miniature lemon-pudding cakes and creamy chocolate or caramel pot de crème cups sprinkled with artisan salt ($2–$2.50). Platine’s popular brownies are made from extra-brut cocoa, Ghirardelli chocolate, and Michel Cluizel chocolate and then smothered with gooey caramel or a layer of New York–style cheesecake ($2 each). The menu changes daily, so stop in for a surprise or call ahead to see what Platine is cooking up.

- Cantor's creations, many of which are Lilliputian versions of favorite hits, are the work of a sophisticated talent in the service of simple pleasures. – Los Angeles
- Cantor's gooey caramel-covered brownies sell out fast, but the perfectly sweet cream-cheese brownies are an excellent stand-in. On the cookie front, don't miss the Platinos, a softer version of the classic Oreo. – Tasting Table
