What You'll Get
According to a 2009 Gallup poll, an overwhelming majority of elementary principals believe recess positively impacts both the social skills of students and their academic achievement. However, a growing number of budget-constrained public schools in the United States do not provide their students with recess opportunities, even though recess can improve students' scholastic and behavioral well-being. Playworks helps schools provide physically engaging recess opportunities for children, giving students an outlet to expend energy and promoting social engagement among their peers.
Playworks's hosted recess sessions give children time each day to play together and engage in cooperative games, such as four square, soccer, Hot Potato, and hula hooping. The organized games not only provide energy-releasing entertainment, but also urge youth to interact positively with one another by offering words of encouragement or solving conflicts safely and responsibly. The benefits of positive playtime can extend into the classroom, as students who participate in physical activities such as recess tend to show an increase in focus, class participation, and school attendance.
Join G-Team and donate $5 to help Playworks provide recess opportunities to students enrolled in a low-income school. If G-Team raises $180, Playworks can sponsor the recess participation of one student for one year. Each additional $180 raised sponsors another student's recess participation for one year.
Unlike traditional Groupon deals, G-Team campaigns typically don't offer you a "discount" or "savings." So "buyer" beware—when you click "Buy" to donate your time or money to a worthwhile G-Team cause, the only discount you may receive is 100% off free, priceless karma. Read more about G-Team.
