What You'll Get
The diaries of Lewis and Clark are filled with cantankerous laments about having to tour the wilderness by foot and the startling lack of trailside fast-food options. Equip yourself with a discoverer's eyes and a Robocop's wheels with today's Groupon: for $21, you get a Town & Country segway tour of historic Jim Thorpe from Pocono Segway Tours in Jim Thorpe (a $44.95 value).
Cradled in the forested furloughs of the Pennsylvanian mountains, Pocono Segway Tours leads scooters through the town of Jim Thorpe and its quaint charms. Historically attuned tourists stand astride gyroscopically stabilized steeds for a 90-minute journey along the vintage streets, reaping a harvest of information from nostalgia fountains and memory hydrants. After leaving the picturesque avenues of Jim Thorpe, a three-mile gamesome glide ends excursions on a high note with serene views along wooded paths to the top of Flagstaff Mountain. Before Memorial Day, tours are only available on weekends, extending to seven days a week at 10 a.m., 12 p.m., 2 p.m., and 4 p.m. after the holiday. Tours operate out of the Pocono Bike Shop, across the street from the train station.
