Students at an acting class in rural Vermont go seriously off-script in Circle Mirror Transformation, a funny and emotionally-affecting play by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Annie Baker. As an "Adult Creative Drama" workshop instructor leads an unlikely collection of strangers -- a former actress, a recently divorced carpenter, a moody teenage girl and her own hippie husband -- through theater games, the drama that emerges begins to reflect their real-life issues. Circle Mirror Transformation won the prestigious 2010 Obie Award for Best New American Play and landed on the top ten lists of both The New York Times and The New Yorker in 2009. It's a beautifully crafted story in which you see, with hilarious detail and clarity, regular people undergoing titanic transformations. Watch as their story unfolds like a charmingly funny indie film on stage at Point Loma Playhouse.
Due to mature subject matter and profanity, the play may be unsuitable for children under age 13.
Running time is two hours and 15 minutes.
There is food included in the ticket price on Opening Night only. An opening party after the show will feature buffet-style appetizers, and beer and wine.
