Pole-dancing infuses a healthy workout with a dose of sensuality, and it does so far more successfully than making out on a treadmill or swimming laps in a pool full of champagne. Give your body and ego a boost with today’s Groupon: for $49, you get four weeks of pole- or aerial-dance classes at Pole Addiction (a $125 value).
Pole Addiction’s owner Jessica Reynolds and her team of experienced instructors help women tone torsos, streamline stems, and boost self-confidence with a full schedule of pole-dancing, aerial, and burlesque classes. For 90 minutes each week, the Beginner 1 Pole Dance class introduces rookie thighs to 44 different pole tricks—such as the fireman, the goddess, and the difficult downward slide that ends with you wearing a batsuit—along with how to blend these moves into routines and make the graceful transition from pole to floor. Pole Addiction supplies its own music, but students may bring their own CDs or polka band to inspire their spins and struts. Pole performers should don fitted stretchy pants (short shorts for bare-legged moves) and a sleeveless shirt. Bodies should be clean and devoid of lotion.
If your tastes in aerobics veer more toward Cirque du Soleil, Pole Addiction's aerial-dance classes replace the metal cylinder with soft, flowing streams of silk hanging from the ceiling. The added support allows for a wider range of poses and teaches students how to sexily slip free of giant tarantula webs. Aerial-dance classes may require alternative attire and an additional supply list, which will be provided at the time of registration.
