Pole dancing's first practitioners were electricians who spun toward the telephone wires in need of repair and twisted away from the squirrels trying to crack acorns on their helmets. Electrify your exercise routine with this Groupon.

During pole-dancing classes, students climb and twirl on poles while they tone muscles, torch calories, and release their inner sirens. Classes start with a warm-up on a yoga mat—which can be rented or brought from home—before each student pairs with her own pole. The schedule offers more than 40 classes each week for students of all experience levels. Other classes include Zumba, Vinyasa yoga, Ballet Barre Burn, Belly Afro Samba, and aerial-hoop classes.
Pole Dance Miami
Pole dancing is sexy, but it's also serious exercise. Just ask the folks at Miami New Times, who bestowed Pole Dance Miami with the title of "Best Gym Alternative" in 2010. "Pole Dance Miami. . . takes its pole art seriously," wrote the publication's correspondent. And the results of the studio's classes, which range from high-intensity Pole Burn workouts to sensual Bump and Grind sessions, reflect that seriousness. ". . . all of [the] wiggling, jiggling, spinning, and climbing seriously whittles you down and builds pure strength," wrote the Miami New Times contributor.
