Savor a bountiful bouquet of seasonal delights served beneath ornate crystal chandeliers and a roof. With today's Groupon, $20 gets you $45 worth of food inspired by global flavors, unique cocktails, and dancing at Policy, a hip restarounge located in the U Street corridor. Owner Omar Miskinyar founded Policy on the principles of providing thoughtful food to all, and making sure everyone—even you, you who has such golden, untapped potential—has the opportunity to drink signature cocktails and dance the night away in a graffiti-and-vinyl-dappled atmosphere.
Chef Brian Murphy, who has worked with the renowned Yannick Cam, has created a menu of shareable small plates, forged from the best flavors of the season. Try the peppered diver scallops with Asian pear-cucumber and sesame rice-wine vinaigrette ($11.95), the Madras curry lamb sliders with gorgonzola and mint pesto ($13.95), or the tandoori-spiced cured salmon with pickled onion, cucumber, and crème fraiche ($11.95). Sides include local Virginia spinach, roasted garlic-whipped potatoes, and roasted brussel sprouts with ginger ($6 each).
Policy's inspired décor is the perfect place to raise a glass. Dine on the black-walled, red-leathered first floor, or move up to the second-floor lounge or roof deck and imbibe a Libertini (Kettle One Citroen, Chambord, pineapple juice, and champagne float), the Fonz (Hendrick's Gin with cucumber), or a Stimulus (Van Gogh Double Espresso Vodka, Red Bull, and Bailey's), each $11. Try out the new Craft Bar, where cocktails are made to order with fresh herbs, squeezed juices, custom syrups, and handpicked craft spirits. (Chris Schmidt, formerly from Vintoca Wine Bar, recently joined the staff as Policy's new beverage director.) Check out the full drink menu for more tasty tipples.

The Washington Post, Daily Candy, and Metromix has written about the laid-back vibe and fabulous food at Policy:
- Yes, D.C., someone has finally opened a lounge where you don’t have to throw down a month’s rent to get a table and kick back with your friends. Someone knight this Miskinyar fella immediately. – Wendy Standel, Metromix
Policy earns 76% yeas on Urbanspoon, and bloggers are casting positive votes as well:
- With its graffiti adorned walls and over-the-top chandeliers in its upstairs lounge, Policy is sure to be a hit on 14th street...The Policy crowd is slanted to be able to walk in with jeans and a tee shirt and mingle with others in suits and ties, a very mixed crowd. – The Fly Girl Guide
- They serve my favorite beer, Blue Moon, which is always a plus for me. The bartenders were nice and they provided quick service...This is a great addition to the neighborhood. – Capital Cooking with Lauren DeSantis
Old School Knights vs. New School Knights
A Metromix reviewer writes that Policy owner Omar Miskinyar should be knighted “immediately.” Being a knight, however, doesn’t entail the same powers and responsibilities it once did:
Classic Knights: Rode into battle atop gallant horses.
Modern Knights: Ride in limos to record charity singles.
Classic Knights: Called to defend God and country.
Modern Knights: Called to endorse regional wrestling promotions.
Classic Knights: Slayed enemies with gleaming swords, protected by royal blood and the spirit of their ancestors.
Modern Knights: Given congratulatory cufflinks.
