A good day on the golf course is like a good day at the hospital: the fewer strokes, the better. Rock it in the rough with today's Groupon to The Polo Fields Golf Course & Country Club. Choose between the following options:

  • For $89, you get an 18-hole round of golf for two people and a cart rental (a $202 value).
  • For $65, you get a month's regular full golf membership for May (a $390 value).

Spread across locations in Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti, The Polo Fields gratify greens fiends with two 18-hole championship courses, driving ranges, and practice facilities. Designed by William Newcomb and opened in 1995, the par 72 Ann Arbor course delivers links-style golf, with broad, bent-grass fairways. Cart-equipped players can coast through all 6,850 scenic yards, and test out the ejector seats. Four tee positions at each hole suit varying skill levels, allowing groups of mixed experience to play together. The Washtenaw Course, the third-oldest in Michigan and newest addition to The Polo Fields, exemplifies old-world design. A slew of hazards, such as roving oak and cedar trees and watery ball-snatchers, awaits along its 6,512 yards.

At both sites, The Polo Fields pamper members with myriad dining, swimming, socializing, and fitness opportunities as well as unlimited golf, driving range, and locker access. At Washtenaw, swimmers can bask in sun in the lap-style pool, then partake in repasts of American regional cuisine on the outdoor patio of The 19th Hole and family dining room. Gobble up a smoked turkey focaccia panini ($10) or have a sea feast on a plate of calamari arrabbiata ($9). In the Ann Arbor fitness center, gym dwellers grind their glutes on elliptical machines and receive instruction from a certified personal trainer. Like cookie dough, massage therapists knead muscles, which are then baked into brawny baked goods in the hot tub. After a workout, patrons head to the Grille Room to drink in views of the links while drinking local drafts and single-malt scotches. Golf balls are included, however golf carts must be rented.

The Polo Fields Golf and Country Clubs

The Polo Fields Golf and Country Clubs encompasses two locations—one in Ann Arbor and one in Ypsilanti—each with its own 18-hole course and refined clubhouse. Designed by renowned architect William Newcomb, the par 72 Ann Arbor course channels the blustery hillocks and grass-eating bagpipes of courses in the United Kingdom with a 6,828-yard layout featuring broad, links-inspired fairways and deviously slick greens. A community fixture for nearly a century, the Washtenaw course takes clubbers on a verdant voyage among native oaks and cedars, burbling streams, and tranquil ponds. Both sites house fully stocked pro shops, where guests can peruse the latest in on-course duds, clubs, hats, and remote-controlled golf balls from brands such as TaylorMade, Adidas, FootJoy, and Titleist.

Guests can bask in views of the splendid links while enjoying regionally inspired American fare and frothy drinks at the clubs’ two dining facilities, both of which feature settings for a variety of occasions. Swimmers can stroke through the outdoor lap pool at the Washtenaw location, and sunbathers can lounge by the colossal, resort-style pool in Ann Arbor. Within the Ann Arbor fitness center, hearts race on elliptical machines, muscles pump free weights, and calories melt during group fitness classes, before muscles soak in the warm, golf-ball-free waters of the hot tub.

Great deal for this course!
Keith J. · October 2, 2013
Had a great time, both courses are very well maintained. I prefer the traditional Washtenaw course, but would recommend playing both.
John U. · September 29, 2013
Truly a wonderful group of people that work there. I visited Washtenaw more than the other course and found the course and amenities to be in great shape.
