Fresh off of celebrated appearances in New York and L.A., award-winning playwright Dael Orlandersmith brings her stunning solo show Forever to the Portland Center Stage and Ellen Bye Studio. The performance begins in Paris at the famous Père Lachaise Cemetery, where the graves of Marcel Proust and Jim Morrison attract visitors from around the world. After visiting the final resting place of her idols, Orlandersmith is compelled to reflect on the complex legacy left by her late mother and the sometimes distressing life they shared together. Forever is a powerful and personal look at the multiple meanings of family -- those we're born into and those forged by people who, despite being unrelated by blood, develop a familial bond that stands the test of time.
Running time: Approximately 90 minutes, with no intermission.
