With today's side deal, $12 gets you one ticket to Handel’s Messiah, a popular English-language Christmas oratorio performed by the Portland Chamber Orchestra (a $25 value for a regular adult ticket). Choose from the following performances:
- Wednesday, December 22 at 7:30 p.m. at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Portland (25 tickets available).
- Thursday, December 23 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Hillsboro (100 tickets available).
Handel’s Messiah inspires holiday cheer with a Christian interpretation of the Messiah as Jesus Christ, expressed over the course of a three-part libretto that covers the birth of Christ, miracles, crucifixion, resurrection, ascension, and concludes with the second coming. Though otherwise engaged on the nights of these performances, Handel himself would surely be delighted to witness his famous "Hallelujah" movement performed by the Oregon Chorale in conjunction with the Portland Boychoir (December 22) and the Hillsboro Community Youth Choir (December 23), with rousing soloists including internationally renowned baritone Richard Zeller, mezzo soprano Angela Niederloh, soprano Nicole Greenidge, and tenor Daniel Buchanan. These tickets are for general admission seating in both venues.
Children's admission tickets are regularly only $5, so save your money and don't buy a Groupon for junior.
