For $16, today’s deal gets you two adult-admission tickets to The Scene, showing from February 17 to March 13, at Portland Playhouse (up to a $42 value). Actors take the stage Thursday through Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.

The Scene, directed by Tamara Fisch and written by Theresa Rebeck, satirizes the entertainment industry and Manhattan's elite in one fell swoop. Charlie, a washed-up actor with an ambitious wife, strives to balance his weakened ego with his wife’s demands. When a youthful small-town transplant named Clea enters the picture, Charlie must re-examine his desires, career, and need for status.

The play’s critical perspective and Portland Playhouse’s intimate atmosphere promise to provoke thought and reflection.

Though this season's production of The Scene has yet to receive many online reviews, previous productions at the Portland Playhouse have been featured on OregonLive.com.
