Famed for their charming and energetic concerts combining song, dance and folk tales, the colorfully costumed women's a cappella ensemble ViVoce, Portland's only women's world music choir, brings warmth to a cold night with its 10th annual winter concert. ViVoce's East of the Sun, West of the Moon boasts selections from the Nordic lands, contemporary works by Morten Jannson, Frode Fjellheim and Christopher Wicks, medieval and renaissance vocal music from Norway, France and Italy, folk songs from Ingrian, Karelian and Norwegian cultural groups, and songs from Bulgarian, Anglo-American and Black-American traditions. Celebrate music from around the world with dancing rhythms, evocative texts, fantastical tales and divine harmonies, at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church.
