About P.O.S.T.–Wellness by Design
After mending bodies as a physical therapist for nearly 10 years, Mitchell Kauk opened P.O.S.T.–Wellness by Design to better help his patients strengthen and recover. He wanted the center to reflect his holistic approach to health, so he gathered a staff of physical and occupational therapists, chiropractors, and experienced fitness instructors. Instead of focusing only on treating illness or pain, they aim to foster total well-being.
To help locals and patients achieve that goal, the team renovated a spacious movement center overlooking the Petaluma Turning Basin. During the eco-friendly project, they recycled materials used in the former building, brightened the walls with low-VOC paints, and insulated the space with blue jeans to keep out winter chills and attempt to lure in Bruce Springsteens. Inside the earth-healthy building, Yoga by Design instructors with more than 100 years of shared experience teach students of all skill levels the joys and benefits of yoga, from increased flexibility to greater control over stress. They also host a variety of movement classes including Pilates, Zumba, and tai chi.
