Stare autumn's blinding beauty in its beautifully blinding eyes with today's Groupon; a four-hour kayak tour of DC monuments with Potomac Paddlesports. Enjoy a guided tour of our nation's most inspiring and least dangerous monuments using a combination of kayak, paddle, and arm.
Potomac Paddlesports tours are designed for beginners because the kayaks are stable, the waters of the Potomac are calm, and the instructors instruct. Before heading out on the open water, learn proper paddling technique. During your monument adventure, the guides offer historical background on the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, Georgetown area, and Tidal Basin.
Kayaking offers a great combination of exercise and relaxation. At the same time, the vessel's effortless glide and unobtrusive nature allow you to experience the true calm of nature without disturbing the changing foliage or hungry beaver population. A stealthy approach offers the possibility of catching a glimpse of a heron or a kingfisher as your guide explains the river ecosystem and the plot of Magnolia. 2009 tours take place September 27 and October 4, 11, 18, and 25, and the 2010 tour season restarts in May (this Groupon expires on 9/1/2011). Call ahead to schedule a unique tour of the monuments that 100% of Americans call "not imaginary."

About Potomac Paddle Sports
At Potomac Paddlesports, the first professional paddlesports school to be endorsed by the American Canoe Association, the team of American Canoe Association– and British Canoe Union–certified instructors patiently lead students through a methodical progression of flat-water paddling skills. The classes cover a variety of watersports, including whitewater rafting, river and sea kayaking, and standup paddling. The small-group classes are designed to keep students engaged, and longer trips down the Potomac challenge their skills with powerful rapids surrounded by lush scenery, interspersed with rare glimpses of bears putting on their bear suits. Outside of class, students can bond with fellow paddlers during weekly sushi meals and occasional movie nights. Further demonstrating their dedication to bodies of water, Potomac Paddlesports works to preserve the nation’s rivers, estuaries, and oceans, sharing this passion with its members through advocacy and donations to conservation programs.
