Historically speaking, a gift of handmade arts and crafts has garnered better reception than a gift of footmade food or nosemade holes in the wall. Today's Groupon supports the tradition of handmade wares. For $12, you get $30 worth of fine pottery at Pottery Rowe. Pottery Rowe is open every day except Sunday.
Pottery Rowe is the studio, showroom, and store of master potter Melvin Rowe, who brings more than 35 years of experience to his craft. His hand-shaped, wheel-worked, and kiln-heated creations serve functional, artistic, and decorative purposes. Diners desiring dazzling dinnerware can opt for salad bowls ($16), dinner plates ($24), or serving bowls ($32), while beverage buffs have their choice from coffee mugs ($15), wine glasses ($20), and teapots ($96), among other items. Clients seeking ceramic containers for flowers and soap instead of flour and soup can opt for a Rowe-made home accent, such as a vase ($44) or a pump bottle ($20).
All of Rowe's pottery pieces are ovenproof, dishwasher safe, microwaveable, lead-free, non-toxic, and noted scholars of Jacobean drama. Additionally, Rowe's pottery boasts his self-created glaze patterns, including tranquil designs such as Desert Dusk, Lavender Morning, and Twilight Skies, which are coincidentally all song titles from Swiss pop duo Double (pronounced double). Rowe's clay laboratory is open to the public, so visitors are welcome to sidle up a stool and watch the artist at work.
