Singin’ in the Rain Jr.
A youth ensemble takes on one of the most celebrated—and certainly the splashiest—movie musicals, Singin’ in the Rain. The 1952 screen version, which starred Gene Kelly and Debbie Reynolds, went on to be adapted as a comic stage musical by the original screenwriters.
Audiences are transported to the heyday of Tinseltown, where the transition from silents films to talkies is the talk of the town. Leading man Don Lockwood and starlet Lina Lamont are a hot item on screen, but behind the scenes their relationship is less than winning. When the success of The Jazz Singer at a rival studio forces their next production into the world of sound, Lamont’s squeaky voice and grating accent might spell the end of her career. But can the voice of a talented young actress and singer save the day? The musical is famous for such showstoppers as “Good Mornin’” and the umbrella-twirling “Singin’ in the Rain.”

About Prairie Playhouse
Like any artist, Shauna Marble is compelled to create. So upon moving to Colorado, she created an outlet for her acting, directing, and dancing careers—Prairie Playhouse. The community theater brings the bright lights of Broadway to the Denver suburbs with its stage productions, which include musicals such as Oliver!, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and Les Misérables. In addition to featuring locals in its shows, Prairie Playhouse offers performance-arts classes for budding thespians in acting, choreography, and stage production.
