Q:

I also bought 4 tickets for the September walking tour of Downtown and used the new link http://preservationdetroit.org/detroit-heritage-tours/ . There was "no availability" for any Saturday in September. I was hoping to reserve September 21st for the 4 tickets. How do i get a refund if the tours are filled?

Raymond Y.  asked on  Jun 9, 2013

A:

All tours are still open. You need to click the "Next" button in order to schedule your tour.

Q:

I bought 4 tickets, but nothing is available? Should I request a refund?

Tess B.  asked on  Jun 7, 2013

A:

There are plenty of spots available this summer! None of the tours are filled. I believe you're using an old link from the Groupon ad (we're working with them to correct it). Please try to book the tour using this link: http://preservationdetroit.org/detroit-heritage-tours/

Q:

Where do you park? Is it safe? Is there a fee?

Judy R.  asked on  Jun 6, 2013

A:

For the Eastern Market tour, there is free parking in the Eastern Market area. Parking for the Tuesday After-Work Tour and Downtown tour is in the Compuware Parking Garage (check for pricing) on Farmer at Monroe. Parking for the Cultural Center/Midtown tours can be on-street at the meter, or at the paid lot across from the Preservation Detroit offices.

Q:

My wife and I would like to take this tour. Our son is 2.5 years. Do we need to get a seperate coupon for him or kids his age are free?

Nishant G.  asked on  Jun 6, 2013

A:

We don't charge for young children to take our walking tours. I would recommend a stroller for the little guy, as it's too long a walk for a person his age. ;-)

Q:

Q1. I see that in the guidelines its mentioned that 4 coupons can be purchased per person. My understanding is that each $10 coupon is valid for 2 people. Does that mean if I buy 4 coupons, my party can be of max 8 people (incl myself)? Q2. If I buy 4 coupons, do I need to use all of them together? If the answer is that I can use them separately, do I need to be personally present each time the coupon is being redeemed?

Nishant G.  asked on  Jun 6, 2013

A:

Four vouchers mean eight people can tour. You do not need to use them all at once but when redeeming your voucher, you have to have the two people present for that one voucher. For example, you cannot send one person with a voucher, then send one other person with that same voucher on another day. You can give your voucher to friends.

Q:

How much distance is covered on the walking tour? Do you need to be a fit and active walker?

Cynthia T.  asked on  Jun 5, 2013

A:

Our tours are usually 1.5 miles. While you don't need to be super-fit, you shouldn't have a problem with walking at a leisurely pace. Please wear good walking shoes. Our tours are a fantastic way to learn about the city!
