Visitors sample six wines during the tasting, with styles chosen from a list of five whites and seven reds such as chardonnay, syrah, pinot noir, and gerwürztraminer. Guests also go home with a bottle or two of either the 2009 syrah rosean organic, biodynamic wine with notes of blackberry and fruit flavorsor the 2006 Hallauer syrah, aged in French oak barrels for 24 months for a subtly spicy and aromatic finish.
Visitors receive two tastings and a bottle of wine or four tastings and two bottles of wine. The bottle(s) taken home is a choice between a pre-selected white or red, with the specific bottle given changing depending on availability.

In the heart of Solvang, an unassuming red brick building stands at the corner of Mission Drive and Atterdag Street. Though it may not show it from the outside, the tasting room at Presidio Winery houses a vineyard’s worth of innovative varietals ready for exploration. Beneath warm pendant lights, the winery’s resident oenophiles pour certified organic and biodynamic wines. The cool climate where the grapes flourish is particularly well-suited for pinot noir, chardonnay, and syrah varietals, and crops are harvested using sustainable farming techniques. Visitors can sip samples of varietals such as the dry Estate syrah rose, the dark and savory sangiovese, and Estate pinot noir, with aromas of cherry, violets, and oak.
