Like squirrels, vigilant bartenders make a living distinguishing whether someone is a responsible 21 year old or a well-stacked pile of acorns. Develop discerning eyes with today’s Groupon: for $59, you get an introductory bartending class at Professional Bartending School of San Antonio (a $150 value).
The Professional Bartending School of San Antonio gives prospective bartenders a taste of the art of drink dispensing with introductory classes. At the start of a four-hour session, students learn about various types of drinks in a one-hour lecture from one of the school’s five experienced instructors. Pupils spend the remaining three hours practicing the craft, mixing drinks while simulating common bar situations, such as the happy-hour rush, customer interaction, and high-noon duels.
The 2,900-square-foot facilities house eight fully operational bar stations. The classroom, set up to replicate a real bar, sports all the trimmings of a local watering hole, though alcohol is not used in class and not everybody is guaranteed to know your name. Classes take place on Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
