Hiring a police sketch-artist to make drawings of family memories can lead to a night in the slammer or being banned from buying slushies at your favorite convenience store. Evolve from point-and-sketch techniques with today's deal: for $100, you get one DSLR (digital single lens reflex) camera class at Project Basho. Bring your own DSLR camera—or rent one in-class for a modest fee—to expand your photographic memory-making skill set.
Start from pixel one with a Learning Your Digital SLR class at Project Basho, where you'll develop a deeper relationship with your lens-laden friend by unpacking issues of general operation and sophisticated adjustment. With a limit of 12 students, each seven-hour class is designed to break down the principles of photography in the practical context specific to your camera. To receive the most comprehensive instruction, Project Basho recommends bringing your camera's original instruction manual and removing your thinking cap from the lens before shooting. Classes are held in single-day seven-hour sessions and two-day 3.5-hour sessions throughout the summer; for a complete listing of DSLR classes, click here.
For students who are already familiar with their camera's inner workings and menu settings, Project Basho offers two additional courses. In the Learning Your Digital SLR II class, students further refine their lighting game while being introduced to unprocessed RAW image files that make precision adjustments possible. And in the Digital SLR in Practice class, advanced students evaluate their preexisting portfolios and refine aesthetic techniques through in-class practice. There are no prerequisites for classes, so feel free to sign up for any class.
