Mitch is an accomplished journalist driven solely by his career. Sixteen years after graduating from college, he happens to catch Morrie's appearance on a television news program and learns that his old professor is battling Lou Gehrig's Disease, also known as ALS. Based on journalist Mitch Albom's real-life friendship with his favorite college professor, Tuesdays With Morrie chronicles the lessons he learns during visits while his mentor and friend. The two delve into conversations about life, love, wealth, aging, dependence, peace and death. It's through these weekly visits that Mitch realizes just how much he still has to learn about values and priorities. Albom's 1997 book by the same name has sold more than 14 million copies worldwide to date, was adapted into a successful film in 1999, and premiered as an off-Broadway play, written by Albom himself, in 2001.
