More Questions and Answers

Q:

Can I use my groupon for the half day tour?

Star M.  asked on  Mar 10, 2013

A:

The Groupon is only good for the value and services offered and cannot be altered or substituted in any way.

Q:

We would be travelling to use this groupon. How far in advance are you typically able to make a call on weather cancellations and if we cannot reschedule within our trip can we receive a refund? Thank you.

Keri-Ann W.  asked on  Mar 9, 2013

A:

Keri-Ann, It a great question. Our Captains monitor weather almost 24/7. They have a good idea about weather 72 hours prior to any trip. If the Captain cancels a tour Groupon will refund your tickets.

Q:

If someone tends to get sea sick, is this the thing to do? Also, is there any fee for a cancelled reservation?

Dina A.  asked on  Mar 7, 2013

A:

Dina, That is such a hard question to answer, because it depends on the person and the weather etc. Most folks enjoy cruising with us. No fee for cancelling 48 hours prior. Sherri

Q:

I have two children, 2 and 5. Is it the same price for each child or are the children under 3 free?

Nicola B.  asked on  Mar 6, 2013

A:

Hi Nicola, the Groupon price applies for any passenger older than 2 years of age. 2 and under travel free (when reserving just select the "infant" price option). So in your case, you'd need to purchase a Groupon deal for your 5 year-old, but not for your 2 year-old.

I went to the company website to look at schedules, but didn't see a day listed- what day(s) can the ticket be used during the 5/18-6/28 time frame? Is it any day of the week or more of a weekend tour?

A:

Hi Kathleen. Any day of the week. Only caveat is if we see horrible weather on the horizon, but we'll contact you if that looks to be the case to make alternate arrangements.

Q:

During the time period mentioned how active are the whales and, how close do you get to the whales? I am a photographer

Patricia S.  asked on  Mar 6, 2013

A:

Hello Patricia - whales are mammals and so just like us they have their "active" days and their "down" days :^) In general, they are usually up to something and provide for some great visuals. But it is true that some days they are more mellow. We are required by law to keep a safe distance from the whales in order to protect them. However, with even a modest zoom, you can usually get great shots. We've posted photos from a typical tour at our Flickr site: http://flickr.com/PSEXPRESS

Q:

Do orcas migrate like gray whales? If so, when do they migrate? Are they present in the months of May-June?

Rebecca P.  asked on  Mar 6, 2013

A:

Hi Rebecca, it's a good question. There are (broadly) two types of orcas we encounter - transients (travel widely) and the Southern Residents. The Southern Residents spend most of their time in the waters around Washington. Around May, they begin to head into the San Juan Islands, where they spend the summer. The Southern Residents are what we usually see on our tours. However, we do on occasion also see transients, who roam widely and periodically make their way into the waters of Puget Sound.
