Pumpernicks Deli prides itself on being a true, traditional New York–style deli. The cooks start every hot corned beef, roast brisket, and pastrami sandwich by steaming the meats in a custom steamer, slicing them hot to order, and serving them on rye bread. The Ultimate New Yorker is the prime example, piled high with more than a pound of hot corned beef and pastrami topped with cole slaw and Russian dressing. The salads are fresh and their homemade soups are one of their many specialties.

But they leave the pickles up to their customers: They stock a complimentary pickle bar with everything from homemade sweet cabbage to cucumber salad to sour pickles. To cap off meals, they pour more than 50 varieties of imported and domestic beers.
