During Pot A Gold Adventures Pumpkins in the Pines at Hitchin’ Post Stables, families can take part in 30- to 45-minute hay rides, navigate a hay maze, and pet friendly animals. For an additional fee, they can also pick pumpkins, ride trails, and visit the pony ring. The event takes place every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday throughout October. Children ages 2 and younger are admitted for free.
Beneath a canopy of blue sky, Windmill Ranch offers fun activities for the entire family. The main draw here are the guided horseback rides, which wind through a 10,000-acre pinewood forest, and offer chances to spot wildlife such as elk, porcupines, and bobcats. Noticeably absent: cars, which aren't allowed in the area, giving riders a unique chance to revel in the peacefulness of nature. Come Autumn, the ranch welcomes guests for fall activities, including a pumpkin patch and hay rides, while winter brings an opportunity to ride through the snowy forest in a real horse-drawn sleigh.
