What You'll Get
The best workouts combine a variety of exercise styles, which is why nine out of 10 doctors recommend juggling hammers while riding a tandem bike through a swimming pool. Today's Groupon invites your physique to try a new kind of fusion exercise: for $20, you get two ballet-Pilates-weights classes at Pure Barre at the Los Gatos location on University Avenue (a $44 value). With classes scheduled from morning until night, choose your own time to enjoy two classes.
Devised by Pure Barre founder Carrie Rezabek, these fusion classes will work your body in ways it's never been worked before by balancing the grace of dance with the exertion of lifting and the soothing stretching of stretching. Each 55-minute session loosens, strengthens, and lengthens the body through the perfect blend of the ballet barre, weight training, and limber Pilates. In the process, you'll tone your tush, thighs, hips, arms, and abs while burning fat efficiently and blocking out the invasive anxieties of the real world, such as the lingering dread that squirrels are evolving faster than us and will soon overtake us on the food chain.
No dance experience is required to get in on this new tri-flavored exercise. Long pants are recommended and socks are required, so no barefoot barre hanky-panky. Because the Pure Barre workout shuns any jumping or bouncing movement, you won't put any more stress on your already overworked and somewhat disgruntled joints. You might even hear them sing audible hallelujahs during your workout instead of their usual creaks and pops.
- Anyone with a background in ballet can attest to the ass-kicking results that barre work produces. – Lyndsey Saul, LA.com
- I feel so strong and beautiful after class. The instructors are so sweet and beautiful and plus they KICK your butt. – MizzDance, Citysearch
- …despite feeling the pain, I am totally loving this workout. It is intense - you seem to work every muscle in your body. And after two weeks, I'm seeing some very positive changes – RSW624, Citysearch

About Pure Barre
In 2001, Carrie Rezabek Dorr’s only venue for her Pure Barre workouts—a blend of dance, Pilates, and strengthening stretches—was the basement of an office building. Crowds drawn by Carrie's choreographing expertise and the infectious music of her routines necessitated expansion, however, and Pure Barre soon spread its franchises across the country, spurred by mentions in Glamour, Cosmopolitan, and Health magazines.
Pure Barre guides students through precise isometric movements that craft lean, not bulky, muscles. By flowing through scalable maneuvers that balance limbs against a ballet barre, participants can lift and tighten traditional problem areas such as the thighs, abs, seat, and arms. The workout is accessible to all fitness levels, and can help new mothers get back in shape. Intimate classes with a limit of 15 attendees ensure personalized adjustments and tips, allowing each guest to get the most from the workout's alternating strength and stretch drills.
