A recently discovered alternative to the indoors, going "outside" offers adventurous explorers exposure to things such as wind, sunshine, and the naturally occurring mazes found in corn fields. Leave the indoors with today's Groupon, which nets an array of autumn goodies at the Haunted Hayloft Experience at Purina Farms, located in Gray Summit. This children's event takes place October 22–24 and 29–30 from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. each day (except for the 24th, when it operates from 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.).
Set in Purina's spacious Visitor Center and surrounding premises, the five-day event lets fall-fanatic families usher in seasonal scares and crunchy leaves with autumnal activities such as tractor-drawn hayrides, storytelling, meet-and-greets with friendly witches, and magic shows by performers from the International Brotherhood of Magicians. In keeping with Purina's roots as a purveyor of kinship between people and pets, youngsters can feast their primary head orbs on live farmyard animals, duck herding demonstrations, cow-milking displays, and costumed canines competing in a series of flying disc, agility, and diving contests. Bring the entire family or the gaggle of mischievous, otherworldly imps living in your basement for refreshing fall fun.
Purina Farms gets a perfect five-star average from nine Insider Pagers:
- During the special event times of the year, Purina Farms comes to life with barnyard animals, performing dogs, a VERY mild "haunted house" that isn't spooky even for a toddler (no masks or scary images at all), and lots of fun, fun, fun. – John B.
- Purina Farms is a very education and wonderful place to experience with your kids. Animal lovers will really enjoy this experience. Plus, it's a very relaxed environment. – Beth B.
