With nearly 20 years at the helm of fishing expeditions on his briny resumé, captain Dave Riback leads crews on seaward excursions aboard the Queen Mary. As trips disembark with up to 75 passengers, trained fishing instructors demonstrate the basics of casting, reeling, and bass mating calls before turning anglers loose for fishing aboard the 75-foot twin-diesel vessel. Passengers can use provided rods and bait or their own wrangling devices to lure in finny fauna such as fluke, sea bass, and bluefish. Catch and release up to 15 fish, or take newly snagged friends home for dinner or attempts to get your swimming pool recognized as the world’s fifth ocean. The Queen Mary’s crew handles post-catch preparation, cleaning, and filleting for a small additional fee.

Docking less than a mile from the Jersey Shore beaches in the salt-swept hamlet of Point Pleasant Beach, the Queen Mary leaves disembarking passengers within a long cast of entertaining diversions such as amusement rides, an aquarium, and scenic local shops. Guests should pack for a seafaring trek, busting the sun with hats and sunblock, keeping satiated with a cooler full of drinks and food, and reading pocket-size Miranda warnings to each caught fish.

About Queen Mary

The Jersey Shore famously bustles with Ferris wheels, roller coasters, boardwalk shops, and restaurants, but the action doesn't stop at the waterline. Propelled by twin diesel engines, the 75-foot Queen Mary trolls the waters in search of both entertainment and mammoth striped sea bass, Atlantic bonito, bluefish, and long-buried swim trunks. The crew specializes in teaching newbies—including kids—how to handle a fishing pole, and enclosed lounges and separate women's and men's restrooms keep less sea-weathered sailors comfortable.
