The Dark Harbor, featured on Things to Do Inland Empire, celebrates the accumulated ghouls and eerie tales aboard The Queen Mary’s haunted history. First setting sail in 1936, The Queen Mary served as a World War II troop ship, a luxury liner transporting celebrity guests, and a white-whale chaser before retiring in 1967. The ship’s annual Dark Harbor experience commences with a fog-shrouded entrance into the spectral bowels of the ship, where zombies and monsters lurk in search of unwitting guests and their long-lost car keys. Themed mazes entangle visitors ages 13 and older in spooky sites such as the former ship’s infirmary, and local bands rock out amid decidedly unhaunted finger food and cocktails.

Guests can also peruse The Queen Mary’s original staterooms and sun decks, including authentic art-deco built-ins and wood paneling. The Queen Mary historic exhibit further illuminates the legends, terrors, and sordid games of bridge throughout the ship’s storied history.
