Split Ends: Casualties of High-Impact Haircare
One major benefit of a haircut is the removal of split ends. Take a look at Groupon’s overview of an irritating hair condition.
Trichoptilosis is one diagnosis that will come not from your doctor, but from your stylist. Deriving from the Greek terms for hair and feathers, trichoptilosis literally means a jagged feathering at the end of the hair shaft, and unfortunately, there is no cure—the offending ends must be trimmed. Split ends occur when a strand’s outermost layer, the cuticle, wears away. Composed of dead cells that overlap each other like roof tiles, the cuticle can wither due to stress from coloring chemicals or heat from blow dryers and styling tools. This leaves the inner layer—the cortex—exposed, allowing its spindle-shaped protein fibers to unravel and cause split ends. Though some hair breakage is inevitable, you can prevent split ends and brittle hair by shampooing less often, using protein-enriched conditioners, and taking care to coat hair with a heat-protectant product when using styling tools.

About A Chat with QuetheStylist
1. What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
We are a multi-cultural salon that offers services for any hair type or texture. We specialize in blowouts, hair styling and balayage but cater to the other needs of our clients as well. We are like no other salon in that we educate our clients allowing them to become 'mini' stylist for themselves. Teaching our clients how to properly care for their hair is very important to us.
2. What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
all started with a love for fashion, believe it or not. I wasn't sure what aspect of the fashion world I wanted to be apart of so I decided that being a hairstylist would be a closer, easier way for me to be apart of fashion even if it's doing hair and makeup or styling for photo shoots.
3. What do you love most about your job?
Constantly, working with different hair textures or hair services keeps me on my toes and a breast with whats new in trends. I love being apart of my client's life and help build confidence in themselves or there families.
What is the best reaction you've ever gotten from a customer?
When a client saw the results of her hair and cried telly me how much she needed a new look because of the monotony in her life. Rewarded me with the largest gratuity I've ever received to date.
