What You'll Get
Glass provides a resting place for wine, eveningwear for Cinderellas, and a more dramatic exit from 44th-floor windows for Bruce Willises. Shatter artistic inhibitions with today's Groupon: for $25, you get a two-hour introductory stained-glass workshop at Rainbow Vision Stained Glass (a $50 value).
With more than 26 years of experience designing and teaching, Rainbow Vision's instructors foster an inviting atmosphere, in which beginning students relax and have fun while learning to envision, design, and create stained-glass window panels. The two-hour introductory stained-glass workshop teaches students the basics of cutting glass into various shapes, such as daisy petals and Mark McGwire. Stainers learn to employ copper foil to prepare pieces for soldering as well as how flowing solder between colored shards holds together the colorful designs. Ultimately, neophyte artisans combine included class tools and their newfound skills to foster the creation of a 6-inch circular window medallion that can be used to transmit not-so-secret floral messages or showcase successful Risk strategies to unassuming passersby.
The windows of Rainbow Vision's Victorian-mansion glass studio are lined with sheets of tie-dyed, dream-bedazzled shades of glass, each providing shiny inspiration for new students. The maximum class size is capped at 10 people, and each class is typically led by two instructors to encourage a supportive, personalized learning environment and intimate dance-offs. Current class times are scheduled for Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, but additional dates will be added throughout the duration of the Groupon.

About Rainbow Vision Stained Glass
With a team of instructors having more than two more decades of experience, Rainbow Vision Stained Glass expands the community of glass workers through small group classes. Students gather within Rainbow Vision Stained Glass’s sprawling Victorian-style headquarters to learn the fundamentals of making stained glass or the more sophisticated techniques necessary for crafting glass boxes, Tiffany-style lampshades, or glass houses for those who have sworn off throwing rocks. The studio also teaches fused-glass skills, which can yield everything from pendants to wine-bottle stoppers.
Anticipating the needs of its pupils, Rainbow Vision Stained Glass peddles everything a glass artist might desire. More than 400 styles and colors of glass gleam within, more than 300 pattern books await crafters in need of inspiration, and soldering irons stand ready to bind creations together.
