Jacksonville, Florida: Beaches, Live Entertainment, and the Scenic St. Johns River

The St. Johns River—which meanders through the middle of Jacksonville, Florida—is one of the only rivers in America that flows north. Along its banks is The Jacksonville Landing, which has been attracting residents and visitors for more than 20 years with international eateries, live-music clubs, and more than 300 special events held every year. It’s worth walking across the bright-blue Main Street Bridge to Southbank to see Friendship Fountain, which puts on a dazzling light show at night. Next door to the fountain, at the Museum of Science & History, you’ll find several aquariums filled with Floridian fish.

Jacksonville sits right off the coast of the Atlantic Ocean, and its beaches are frequented by kiteboarders and surfers. More than 80,000 acres of parkland lie within the city limits—for a low-key hike or bike ride, head to one of the many state parks. Little Talbot Island State Park’s beaches are rife with sand dunes, and at Fort Clinch State Park, you can take a daily tour past Civil War reenactors or explore native wildlife on self-guided nature trails.

Dirty, smelly, My, husband, daughter, her dog and myself went to Jacksonville for a football game. We walked in and there was a horrible smell. My daughter went to the sink and it was filled with water and the drain plug was not operable so we had to stick our hands in the gross water to drain the water. She then went into the bathroom and said it smells like poop, so she didn’t use the toilet. I went in shortly after her because I had to use the toilet and opened the toilet cover and it was full of poop, and plugged. I was getting so pissed. Grabbed the phone to call the front desk and the handset was not connected to the base, I plugged it back in and it fell right back out again. Finally got ahold of them and she told us they didn’t have a room to move us to and we were and kind of a disadvantage because we had our dog, didn’t know where else to go and it was 10:30pm. She sent maintenance and he handed us the plunger, why should we have to plunge someone else’s poop. How does a room get cleaned between people and have a plugged sink and poop in the toilet that was there for who knows how long. Needless to say we will never go back to that hotel. This hotel is privately owned, so I can’t believe that Wyndom puts their name on this location.

My things was removed from my room Don't go here rooms are not up to part manger has a bad attitude house keeping removed my things from the room without my permission then when I talk to the manager she told me that the hotel is not responsible for my things how when the room was still leased to my I still had the keys and the room was still in my name my things should have never been touched without my permission it is the hotel responsibility to let hose keeping know what rooms are empty and what rooms are occupied and they failed to do that then on top of that the manager got mad at tell me what house keeping wouldn't have did but guess what they did the manager didn't even take the time out to apologize for anything that has happened Iam getting a lawyer involved

Never again. During Hurricane Milton, we had to evacuate to Ramada by Wyndam on Hartley Road in Jacksonville, Florida. I was extremely unhappy with my stay. Here is why. I had to get a different room other than my original choice because the floor in the first room was soaking wet because the air conditioning was malfunctioning! My second room smelled like cigarettes, there was black mold on the bathtub, graffiti on the shower wall and mirror, the light bulbs in the lamps didn’t work, there was old food in the personal microwave, the microwave was broken; if anything touched the sides it shot flames at the food, there was no elevator and the stairs were very dirty, the employees were rude and were stingy about giving us wash cloths, the tv remote had no input/ source button so I was unable to link my Nintendo Switch or any other device to the tv. I was very disappointed. There were, however, good things about my stay, the showers had hot water, they had a free breakfast every morning that was very good, the fitness center was decent, and the hotel was pet friendly, I brought my four cats and two gerbils with me. I should also say that they had an outdoor pool and hot tub that I did not try out because they looked dirty and were filled with leaves. I highly suggest looking for different hotels if you are considering this one. I hope I will never have to go back there again. I repeat, extremely unhappy.
