Since its invention, ice skating has brought us countless thrilling hockey games, scores of inspiring figure-skating routines, and one unforgettable NBA season. Be like Darryl Dawkins in the ’82–’83 season with today’s Groupon: for $40, you get a one-year family skating-and-swimming combo pass to Randolph Recreation (a $125 value). Six family members can attend both of the following activities for one year:
- Open-swim sessions at the Randolph Community Pool (located at Randolph High School) 12 p.m.–3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday
- Summer pool hours begin June 15 (12 p.m.–3 p.m.)
- Open-skate sessions at the Zapustus Ice Arena 1:15 p.m.–2:45 p.m. on Sunday<p>
Randolph Recreation bestows family members of any age with athletic activities, inducing giggles and fostering physical activity year-round. Kiddies and their caretakers can cannonball into serene waters or practice their butterfly stroke, calling upon lessons from their wisest monarch friend, at the Randolph Community Pool within Randolph High School. Open-swim sessions give swimmers the freedom to paddle about as they please, playing underwater games or swimming laps to whip bodies into shape.
Each Sunday, the Zapustus Ice Arena’s diligent zambonis flatten out arctic glaciers, allowing skaters to glide across the frozen waters while showing off graceful figure eights and triple lutzes. The family membership is valid for six people of any age who reside in the same household, so tykes, teenagers, adults, and grandparents alike can partake in the H2O-related activities, as the family parakeet is left to pump iron on the home gym system.
