It was an exciting adventure. The narration was great! At first I thought we may not see any whales but Captain Frank did what he could & we were able to follow one. It was such a great experience my family will never forget!

The weather was beautiful, but the best part about our trip was that as we were nearly finished, heading back to the dock, the team spotted whales who were basking, and gave us a great look at them, with extra time, rather than rush us back.

What You'll Get

Despite their massive size, whales can be hard to spot due to their ability to camouflage themselves with walrus mustaches and porthole monocles. Learn to see through watery disguises with this Groupon.

Seafarers board the Ranger 85 to spot aquatic life gliding around the waters of Channel Islands National Park and National Marine Sanctuary. Throughout the three-hour tours, passengers lean against the railing of the 85-foot ocean liner’s wraparound deck while scanning the currents for fauna such as whales, sea lions, sharks, and dolphins. Seabirds flutter in and out of view, and recorded narration educates voyagers on the differences between gray, humpback, pilot, and orca whales, including which pet names they’re more likely to respond to. Excursions include a shoreline tour of one of the Channel Islands, just a few miles from the coast, with additional narration that explores the islands’ history.
