Q:

My son and I's favorite whales are Humpbacks. When are the times we can see them? Will this groupon still be good for when they are here? It is part of a dream of my own and I have never seen them up close. My son loves them as well as dolphins-me too:)

Hi Christina Thanks for your interest in Channel Islands Whale Watching. Great question. We just encountered the first Humpbacks of the season, yesterday. I typically favor the months of March and April for Humpback activity in the Eastern Channel. We look forward to seeing you on board. Capt. Frank.

Q:

Hi, I was wondering what is the best time frame to see whales? John

elise  asked on  Feb 2, 2013

A:

Hi Elise, Great question and thanks for your interest in Channel Islands Whale Watching. The Channel Islands have become a global destination to view wildlife. We have opportunity to view whales 12 months of the year, but there are peak times for certain species. Currently we are at the height of the Pacific Gray Whale's southern migration. This will continue through February. Then, during the months of March and April, we experience the northern migration of this incredible species. These are the months we observe many mother calf pairs. Along the way we typically encounter dolphin, sea lions, birds and possible other species of whales. I hope this answers your question, and we look forward to seeing you onboard, Capt. Frank

Q:

The tour include the view of the Anacapa Island, especially the Arc , or just viewing the whales?

rene v.  asked on  Jan 30, 2013

A:

Hi Rene, Great question. Most of our whale watching trips take place inside the boundary of Channel Islands National Park and Marine Sanctuary. We typically stop by the east end of Anacapa Island to view wildlife and the Arch...typically. Just an aside, iconic Arch Rock is one my favorite spot to observe wildlife. During the months of May and June we offer Seafari Tours that focus on the wildlife within the park, not whale specific, and includes a tour ( non landing) of the rugged noth shore of Anacapa. Either way, the Channel Islands have become a global destination to observe wildlife. We look forward to seeing you onboard. Capt. Frank
