Milk Like Sugar follows Annie, an inner-city 16-year-old who's struggling to believe in herself and her opportunities. All she wants is a future that's better than the lives of her mother and others in her community. After her friend Margie becomes pregnant, Annie proposes she and another friend join with Margie in a pregnancy pact, but Annie soon has second thoughts about her idea and is faced with life-altering decisions. Milk Like Sugar was the 2012 Obie Award winner for Outstanding Playwriting and now the acclaimed drama comes to Chicago's Raven Theatre, as part of an artistic collaboration between Raven Theatre Company and The Yard, a program of Senn Arts Magnet High School. The production will feature a mixed ensemble of professional actors and Senn Arts students.
This production is not recommended for children under the age of 14.
