Q:

Is there a weight limit?

Sneeky N.  asked on  Feb 27, 2013

A:

Yes, there is a maximum weight of 180lb. The horses can handle a heavier rider, up to 200lb if you are 6' or taller as your weight is distributed more evenly. Let me know if you have any other questions!

Q:

Hi, my children are 8 and 10, can they attend the group lesson with an adult? Thanks, Matina

Matina F.  asked on  Feb 25, 2013

A:

Hi Matina, Are you looking to do the lessons with your children? We have quite a few parents that ride with their children, so that would be a great option. In general though, our classes are grouped by both age and ability. Please feel free to contact me with any further questions!

Q:

Are your lessons primarily for young people? Do you do beginner lessons for adults?

Amy T.  asked on  Feb 25, 2013

A:

Hi Amy, We have students of all ages and levels! Quite a few adults have registered for the package of 4 Group Lessons. Feel free to contact me with any further questions, (905)859-0057 or info@raynhamstables.com.

Q:

Would you be able to explain the difference between options 3 and 4? They are both four group lessons, correct?

Marilena D.  asked on  Feb 24, 2013

A:

Hi Marilena, Option 3 is FOUR group lessons for ONE person (you will be joining a group class with other riders). Option 4 is ONE group lesson for FOUR people (you and three friends come for a single class with just the four of you). Hope that clarifies it for you! Please feel free to contact me with any further questions. Nikki

Q:

My daughter had 2 years of riding summer camp, to join the introduction (option 3), is it ok or too easy for her?

kaz  asked on  Feb 23, 2013

A:

Hi Kaz, We always do our best to tailor the classes to the abilities of the students. If you send me an email info@raynhamstables.com and let me know what she was doing in camp previously (ie. 1 week each summer, posting trot, trot poles, etc) I can give you a recommendation. If she is too advanced for the 4 Week Intro Classes, I can schedule her into one of our existing lessons that is more advanced. I look forward to hearing from you!

Q:

Do you generally have good flexibility on the weekends? At our local barn, weekend lessons are almost impossible to get, and I wouldn't be able to travel there other than on a weekend.

Karen E.  asked on  Feb 22, 2013

A:

Hi Karen, Yes, we do have availability on the weekends. I have reserved 9:30am and 1:30pm on Saturday and 10:30am on Sunday for the group lesson option. There are also times available from 11:30am - 1:30pm on Saturdays for the private and semi-private options. If you have any trouble finding a time, please give me a call and I will happily help book your class. (905)859-0057.

Q:

Assuming it is the first time for an 8 year old on a horse, how much actual riding would they do in 60 minutes?

Greg D.  asked on  Feb 22, 2013

A:

Hi Greg, For all of our classes, we ask that the students arrive 30 min before the start of the class so that staff can show them how to groom the horse and assist with putting on the tack. The full 60min of the lesson time is spent on the horse, for your daughter she would be learning riding basics (correct positon at the halt, & walk, how to hold the reins, how to stop & steer, etc). If you are looking at the option for 4 group classes, each week will be progressive, so students will build on the skills they learned the week before.

Q:

What is the minimum age for a rider?

Greg D.  asked on  Feb 22, 2013

A:

Hi Greg, For the private lesson option we can accept riders as young as 4 years of age (since they receive 1 on 1 attention from the instructor). For the semi-private or group options, the minimum age is 7.
