Crafting your way into someone's cupboard is the craftiest way into his or her heart. For $12, today’s Groupon gets you $25 worth of personally painted pottery, wine, and beer at Ready Paint Fire. Learn to subtly express love's coy voice by painting with a partner, or stencil imagery that's wildly innovative and beautiful, or that commemorates the ancient Athenian victory at Marathon onto any item from Ready Paint's stock of more than 200 pottery possibilities ready to be filled with flowers, pencils, or wishes.
Ready Paint Fire is a quiet escape from office cubicles, supermarket aisles, and dilapidated sidewalk squares where no one encourages each other to paint plates and mugs anymore. A charming brick façade welcomes fun-loving paint-slingers to a handsome studio with cheerful blue walls that complement ivory white, untouched ceramics lined up on shelves. The studio supplies its artists with paints, brushes, design tools, and a crew of friendly assistants who are happy to lend their expertise to any teapot, lamp, plate, jar, piggy bank, or vase. Individual pieces of pottery range from $6 to $185, and the average price of an unpainted piece usually runs between $20 and $35.
Today’s Groupon can also go toward Ready Paint Fire's beer and wine, which add a little extra heat to the artistic fires that burn in a potter’s potbelly. The studio offers cabernet, merlot, or chardonnay glass pours for $6 each, and Rogue brews and other local beers for $4 a bottle. Most of Ready Paint Fire's ceramics are food safe and dishwasher ready, so a custom salad bowl or grapefruit plate is perfectly ready to make friends with current cabinet residents. When a person finishes painting a piece, the studio will fire it to give it a final slick and professional sheen. Reservations are recommended; the studio is not open on Tuesdays.
