What You'll Get
Solar panels convert sunshine into power, just like millionaires convert money into hybrid batmobiles. Get green while spending less green with today's Groupon: for $50, you get $500 toward solar panels and installation or $500 toward a solar-panel lease from Real Goods Solar.
With more than 30 years of renewable energy experience, Real Goods ushers homeowners through every solar-powered step of its detailed installation process. After answering initial questions over the phone, Real Goods' solar-powered staff will complete an in-home consultation to glean site-specific factors including shading, roof slope, and the number of suns in orbit around your home. NABCEP-certified installers and in-house engineers will craft a solar schematic to suit your home's specific architecture and provide a custom line drawing of the intended system.
Composed of crystalline photovoltaic cells, Real Goods' grid-tied solar electric system tracks unsuspecting sunlight and then converts it into AC power that can be used by lights, appliances, and appliances that light up and ding. Through net metering, energy that is not used during the day flows backward through your utility company's electrical grid, allowing your meter to spin backward and creating a credit with the utility company. Though prices vary depending on the size and scope of each project, installation of an average-size 5kw system is approximately $19,897 after the use of available rebates and federal tax credits. The value of today's Groupon will be subtracted from each system's net cost.
Customers may also opt for a solar-panel lease, in which the Groupon's $500 value is applied toward an initial down payment of up to $5,000 and subsequent electric bills, if applicable. Under the lease, customers receive the same equipment, but pay a monthly flat rate directly to Real Goods for their electricity. See more information about this option here.
Shepherding homeowners through each step of the process, Real Goods Solar will furnish an extensive price proposal prior to installation, as well as a financial analysis of potential returns, tax credits, and incentives available. The staff will also secure building permits, submit applicable rebate applications, and schedule a post-construction inspection with the local building department. Promising full system management, Real Goods Solar will coddle its high-wattage handiwork with 24/7 monitoring, an 18-year full system warranty, and all-inclusive insurance for the system.
