What You'll Get

Haunted houses force guests to confront their greatest domestic fears including creepy cobwebs, poltergeists, and rooms filled with mattresses that have had their tags removed. Make a horror-filled house call with today's Groupon: for $25, you get two RIP fast passes to Realm of Terror in Round Lake Beach (up to a $50 value).

Rated the #1 Illinois Haunted House of 2010 by Haunted Illinois, Realm of Terror's spine-chilling scenes and terrifying tenants coax blood-curdling screams out of the heartiest of thrill-seekers. VIP “RIP” patrons skip straight to the head of the line to plunge directly into the haunt’s bone-chilling depths, or linger a moment longer to steady nerves with sips of soda or beer in the VIP seating area of the Haunt Bar. From there, guests make their way through the twisted scenes and hidden horrors that line the house's pathways, ducking, crawling, and distracting demons with an enchanting jazz-tap routine, all in an attempt to make it through the house unscathed by ghostly hands. Filled with loud noise, fog, and strobe lighting, the house oozes eeriness, leaving guests with a feeling of uneasiness akin to watching Vincent Price play Jenga. Realm of Terror boasts a completely covered waiting area to shield shriekers-to-be from rain, though visitors should anticipate possibly getting wet once inside the special-effects-filled fright fest.

Children ages 10–13 must be accompanied by an adult to enter the house, which is geared toward mature audience 16 and older.

About The Realm of Terror Haunted House

With its gore-splattered actors, team of filmmakers and set designers, and a lead makeup artist and creature designer who has appeared on SYFY's Face Off, it's not surprising that The Realm of Terror Haunted House is consistently rated among the top haunts in Illinois. As Haunted Illinois's Minion put it when he reviewed the 2011 haunt, if "you want to be smacked upside the face [with] the most retched vision you can conjure up, then multiply it by 10," this is the place for you.

This year, those brave enough to visit take a tour of Quixotic Labs, a research facility located hundreds of feet below the surface. During their descent, guests learn the horrifying truth—the demented professionals who run the lab have been performing horrifying experiments, and they're looking for new victims.

Brave souls flee from gory room to gory room, encountering more than 50 dedicated horror actors who refuse to break character and often get close enough that visitors can feel hot breath on the back of their necks. Many of the rooms are designed to disorient. Because of the intensity, The Realm of Terror is designed for mature audiences.

While waiting in line to enter the haunted house, guests can sip beverages from an onsite bar, which is stocked with soft drinks and alcohol for visitors of drinking age.
